LONG LOIN Biography of a One Man Big Band Born in New York City in 1965, Kevin Kinane
has been playing drums ever since the doctor slapped him in the ass. Moving
to Albuquerque, NM in the early 1990's, Kevin found himself lending drum
and percussion tracks to countless local acts as well as touring the southwest
with the jam band, The Withdrawals. While backing other bands, Kevin was
always honing his skills on piano, harmonica and guitar and in 1997 he
picked up the Chapman Stick (12 string guitar/bass combination)
hence
the official birth of Daddy Long Loin. Simultaneously playing the stick,
harmonica, keyboard and drum set with his feet, Daddy Long Loin is a true
one man big band
add original songs about food, pets, bad drivers,
dirty politicians, bathrooms and cell phone users with samples, throat
singing and funky jams and you complete the picture for this truly original
and hilarious act. Kevin also makes his living creating and
teaching music on junk instruments as his other alternative persona -
Recycleman. Attaining inspiration from his "white trash backyard"
where Daddy writes new songs and Recycleman creates new instruments, Daddy
is a home body who likes to travel. "When working around town, Recycleman
can't wait to get home and when he's home, Big Daddy's always talking
about touring". Ideally, Kevin would like a nice 50/50 split "as
long as I have a driver-I hate to drive".
